TL;DR – This may or may not be a biased post by the biggest Ed Sheeran fan alive.
If you were not at the Ed Sheeran concert last weekend, you might have missed one of the most talked about shows of 2017.
The widely anticipated concert first saw tickets being released in May that sold out within 40 minutes. The high demand was expected and so were the scalpers reselling tickets on Carousell for as high as $1,000.
After a bout of show cancellations following his unfortunate bicycle accident which left him with a broken wrist, elbow and rib, fans in Singapore were relieved that his shows went on as scheduled, making it his first Asian stop this year.
Kickstarting the show with Castle On the Hill, Sheeran sang to deafening screams from the audience, before moving through song by song from his ÷ album, his third studio album released earlier this year.
From Shape of You, Happier and Perfect to older favourites like The A Team, Photograph and Thinking Out Loud, he encouraged everyone to scream, lose their voices, jump and dance around like no one was watching. He even joked that the super Dads who brought their children and the cool boyfriends in the crowd have no excuses to not join in the fun.
And when it came to the slower songs, he said to fans “you see this at concerts a lot but it is always beautiful to watch” and got everyone to wave their phone lights in the air, while singing their hearts out along with him.
For 1.5 hours, his one-man show was amazing and he kept everyone jumping, screaming, cheering – all in awe. We don’t know when Sheeran will be back in Singapore but I’m already looking forward to his next show!
