Now that McDonald’s Nasi Lemak Burger’s gone, here are some other Singapore-inspired dishes to try

By July 26, 2017Local Life

TL;DR – Localisation at its best.

It took us a while to come up with the title… cause exactly what cuisine is the Nasi Lemak Burger anyway? Fusion? Not quite huh.

But hey, we’re not going to let some classification stand in the way of good food.

So here’s a list of food we found with local twists – just in time for National Day!

Burger King’s Hainanese Chicken and Beef Rendang Burgers

Chicken rice probably defines Singapore food more than anything so we are really surprised that people aren’t as hyped up about this as the Nasi Lemak Burger.

Makcik’s Chicken Rice Burger

Okay we get it. It’s not a Chicken Rice Burger until there’s actually rice in it so does this burger from hipster chicken rice joint Makcik Chicken pass the test?

Delifrance’s Chili Crab Croissant

We’ve no idea how the French like their crabs but most Singaporeans probably like theirs cooked in sweet chili and pairing it with a buttery croissant does sound pretty good.

Ya Kun’s Kaya Durian Toast

This kaya toast upsized features actual creamy D24 durian flesh sandwiched between your crispy bread slices.

Pezzo’s Durian Pizza

Everybody’s been talking about this pizza with Mao Shan Wang and D24 durian flesh baked on active charcoal dough but we are keeping our comments to ourselves till we’ve tried it.

Their current East Meets West buffet dinner at [email protected] offers an interesting variety such as Laksa Pizza, Youtiao Fish and Chips, Chilli Crab Quesadilla, Lotus Leaf Rice with Bacon, and many more! Available Sunday – Thursday.
