Huge fan of sashimi? Then you’ve got to check out this affordable and yummy DIY kaisen don!

By March 3, 2017Local Life

TL;DR – Think sweet, juicy sashimi atop fluffy white rice.

A Kaisen Don is essentially a rice bowl accompanied with different types of sashimi.

The newest kid on the Japanese bowl block is Kaisen Tei by MOF with the first outlet just opened at 313 @ Somerset.

Their standard menu comprises two signature Kaisens ($16) – the traditional Kaisen Don served with fluffy white rice and a low-carb version served on salad greens.

You can also DIY your own bowl with:

  • 8 different types of fish – Salmon, Maguro, Hamachi, Mini Hotate, Tako, Ika, Ishigaki, and Mekagiki
  • 4 signature sauce – Kaisen, Yuku, Wafu, and Yakiniku and,
  • 11 different toppings – Fukake, Kurage, Negitoro, Unagi, Mentako, Taamagouyaki, Tobiki, Corn, Tempura Bits, Wasabi, and Salmon.

By the way, when we visited them earlier this week, it seems that the whole island has gathered to queue at the restaurant.
