Soon you won’t be able to add your Doctor as a friend on Facebook

By September 14, 2016Current

TL;DR – Doctors shouldn’t start social media relationships with patients, says the Singapore Medical Council.

The Singapore Medical Council (SMC) has updated its code and guidelines on medical ethics and it stipulates that medical professionals should not start relationships with their patients on social media sites and doctors are also strongly advised against engaging patients who contact them on social media.

The updated code and guidelines will come into effect on Jan 1 next year (2017). Until then, the previous 2002 version will remain in force.

So, I guess this means you still have the next 3 months to quickly befriend that hot doctor you’ve been seeing?
