Former President S R Nathan was treated to an unexpected surprise when he was honoured at an event disguised as an awards presentation ceremony. He had been told that he would be presenting an award to an “outstanding Singaporean” but instead treated to a video featuring his friends, former colleagues and ordinary Singaporeans whom he had interacted with in the past.

4) Village where school children climb cliffside ladder may get stairs
After moving pictures of school children climbing a 800-metre-high bamboo ladder in Sichuan province’s Zhaojue county were taken, the Liangshan prefectural government has announced that a set of stairs would be built as a stop-gap measure while they consider a longer-term solution.
