TL;DR – If your household income is less than S$11,589, you are considered below average.

According to this article by Seedly which cites Singstat.gov.sg as the source of data, the average household income for Singaporeans is S$11,589.

By average, it means the combined incomes of all the people living under the same roof. It includes every form of income such as salaries, employer’s CPF wage contributions and investment returns.

Here are other numbers to chew on:

  • For households with at least one working person, the median household income for Singaporeans is S$8,846
  • Hence, if you add up the monthly income of income earners in your household and it exceeds S$8,846, you are better off than 50% of households.
  • The median household income per household member is S$2,584 and the average is S$3,688.
  • Household monthly income per person is calculated by taking the total gross household monthly income divided by the total number of family members living under one roof.
